What is the In-Body Scan?
First, what is it?
“Body composition analysis is a method of describing what the body is made of, differentiating between fat, protein, minerals, and body water to give you a snapshot of your health. It also describes weight more accurately than BMI.”
Body composition analysis can accurately show changes in the following areas:
- Fat mass
- Muscle mass
- Body fat percentage.
This is why the Inbody testing plays such an important role when developing training programs for our clients. Monthly and quarterly check-ins are also done on the InBody scanner as a way for CrossFit Colfax coaches to track the clients progress on their current training program.
The Website Science for Sport also says:
“The term body composition relates to the proportion of the body that is made up fat mass (FM) and fat-free mass (FFM). Body composition provides objective data that is unobtainable from scale weight alone, such as the proportion of weight that is fat mass.”
In terms of how important this type of technology is, especially if you are serious about personal training and your individual goals, look at it this way: When you set out to lose weight, you step on a scale OR if you want to see your health status, you measure your BMI. While this may work for some, it is not an accurate way to depict your health status based on your individual goals, limitations, etc. That is where CrossFit Colfax steps in!
The Inbody scan here at CrossFit Colfax gives a detailed report of segmented lean analysis, muscle/fat analysis, segmental fat analysis, visceral fat area, basal metabolic rate, and percent body fat.
Our experienced coaches closely analyze the data from your individual test and create or adjust your training program based on progress. Each month, you are re-tested on the machine. Not only does this method track your progress, but it holds you accountable for what you do outside of CrossFit Colfax (i.e: diet, resting, managing stress levels).
