What makes CrossFit Colfax different, compared to other CrossFit gyms?
I Have a Previous Injury/Injuries (bad back, knee, etc.). Should I Do CrossFit?
We have had many clients come through our gym with tweaks and pain. We have found that our clients have seen marked improvement through strength training and flexibility/mobility work.
That being said, we have always strived to continue our education on injury prevention as well as helping with previous injuries. All of our coaches have extensive knowledge of all types of injuries, how to prevent them, how to heal them, and how to work around them.
We talk with our athletes to get a better understanding of any aches/pains they may be having and we share them with our team, that way everyone is aware. We then modify/scale workouts based on your injury or pain.
I Have A Previous Injury or Injuries (bad back, knee, etc.). Should I Do CrossFit?
I Want to Try CrossFit, But I Don't Know if it's Right For Me.
You never know until you try! When we say anyone can do CrossFit, we mean it.
Our members come from a number of different backgrounds and ability levels, and they all find success within our walls.
You don't need to be 'in shape' to do CrossFit. You do need to be open-minded, committed to learning, and dedicated to the process of taking your health and wellness into your control. Come see for yourself!
One of the great things about CrossFit is that it is infinitely scalable, which means that we can tailor any movement we ask our athletes to do to meet your current level of fitness. Every new athlete will talk to the Head Coach about your health history, current body issues, and your short and long term goals so that he can help you reach them. Turns out that both Olympians and Grandmas can benefit from CrossFit, the only difference is the prescribed scale for the movements.
What if I Can’t Do a Particular Movement, Like a Pull-up?
Don’t worry! Our coaches are trained to help everyone in the class toward a similar workout experience.
Our staff understands when and how to appropriately tailor weights and/or movements to each athlete’s relative strength and conditioning, in order to work the same muscles whenever possible.
Experiencing new movements and techniques are part of the fun of learning that comes along with our programming. Continue to regularly attend classes and you WILL become fitter and stronger.
I Heard CrossFit is a Cult
No, if you have to call it something, call it a tribe or better yet, a family. Cults tend to follow blindly to a leader, tribes/Families work together for the group’s benefit. We do tend to be passionate about CrossFit because it works so well and for seemingly all body types and walks of life. What makes us different from the normal corporate chain, or “globo”, gym experience is that we develop a community spirit based on encouraging each other to succeed.
We support and push each other in our efforts to achieve our goals. There is never any shame in finishing dead last in a work out as you’ve already beaten everyone that decided to stay on the couch that day. We are all in this together and that’s what makes CrossFit so addictive to so many people. Besides, you will be amazed at your new level of fitness and your awesome new body. You may find yourself spouting the virtues of what you found not long after you start as well!
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Hearing through the grapevine how hard Crossfit can be, I anxiously went to Crossfit Colfax as a total novice to weight lifting. My first day I was warmly greeted by Chad and Esther (the owners of the gym) and they instantly put my nerves at ease. Chad and Esther put a huge emphasis on doing the workout movements correct, so much so that they picked out 4 times to personally go over all the movements in depth in a personal setting at no additional cost!
The coaches can scale any workout to your ability, the people in the classes range from novice to expert, but most importantly the community is very supportive. Whether you are doing your first pullup or 50th, the community is really encouraging. In short, Crossfit Colfax is a gym with an awesome community that has great workouts. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into shape!
